Opening hours and access
The Basilica is open every day of the year.
It is open from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm. Admission is free for everyone.
Opening hours
The basilica is open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., but closes later on major religious holidays, such as the Easter Vigil and the day before Easter. It also closes later for vigil prayers and the Holy Hour prayer on the first Thursday of each month, from 11 p.m. to midnight.
No less than four masses are celebrated every day at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. There are five masses on Fridays, including the 3 pm mass.
From Tuesday to Sunday, the Benedictine Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre pray the Divine Office in the basilica.
At the basilica entrance, a Benedictine Sister of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre (or one of our volunteers) is available at the Welcome Desk to answer your questions.
Feel free to ask them any questions you may have about your visit or our activities, share a prayer intention, or meet with a sister.
Access for people with reduced mobility
There is elevator access to the Basilica for people with disabilities or mobility issues at the back of the Basilica (35, rue du Chevalier de la Barre). It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Here are a few tips for your visit:
You are entering a holy place. The basilica is a landmark in the Parisian landscape. However, it is first and foremost a church, and thousands of visitors come here to pray every day.
Please dress appropriately and remain silent.
Thank you for not talking on your cell phone. Instead, use it to access our audio tour, which will guide you step by step! The Art, Culture, and Faith Association offers the audio tour, which will guide you through the basilica’s most notable features as you enter and walk through the ambulatory.
No prior reservation is needed for groups. However, we ask group leaders to ensure the utmost discretion.
In the central nave, due to Mass and Office celebrations, as well as out of respect for the presence of the exposed Blessed Sacrament — for Catholics, this is the real presence of Christ — please enter only the areas dedicated to prayer (the first part of the nave).
Throughout your visit, please help us keep the basilica as silent as possible to respect everyone’s prayer. People from all over the world come to pray at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart!
A special issue of the Connaissance des Arts magazine, The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre, is available in English at our shop to guide you during your tour.
Photos, professional photos, and films.
To respect everyone’s prayer, photos are not allowed in the nave.
Please note that professional photos and films require prior review and authorization from our Communications Department. All requests must be submitted through the contact form.
