A LITTLE HISTORY
1875 : LAYING OF THE FOUNDATION STONE
The building of the Basilica relied on the generosity of the
donors known as " THE BUILDERS ".
1919 : CONSECRATION OF THE BASILICA. 1912-1922 : THE MOSAIC IS MOUNTED IN THE CHOIR. 1971-1972 : FIRST INTERIOR REFURBISHMENT. IN 2000 MUCH WORK WAS PLANNED : · interior cleaning undertaken by the city of Paris · project to improve the look and lay out of the places of prayer · setting up of spaces for spiritual welcome.
By asking for a copy of the " BUILDER'S BOOKLET " (by post or on line), you can take an active part in planning the renovation of the Basilica, by enabling us to foresee and to schedule the financing of the many tasks to be carried out. Every stone, however modest, has a place in this building. Let us come together as builders of the Third Millennium !
